HEAD JUST ABOVE THE WATER

Why do we need to bail out a pub when there are so many other worthy causes is a very valid question.  

So a massive thank you to everyone who stepped in to help.  We want to protect our core activities at all costs – seniors club, kids club, disability disco – and your donations will help us do that. More than a pub and all that.

It was two massive utility bills that tipped us over the edge – and we now have someone looking at those – but every cost is spiralling out of control while no one has any spare money in their pockets.

Unfortunately we’ve had to open later and stay shut Sundays. We hope this is a temporary February measure and once spring starts we can change these times.

We’ve got a new team, are having regular meetings and are looking at every penny we spend. 

We’re not out of the woods by any means but we are still here. 

So the best way you can help us is by hiring us for parties, meetings, wakes, weddings, anything (well, within reason).

Our Annual General Meeting is on Friday 23rd February from 6.30pm Expect more than just another meeting! 

You need to be a shareholder to vote – and you can put yourself down to be on the committee. 

In particular we are looking for someone with experience of governance, policies and procedures. Who understands all the paperwork that keeps the pub ticking over. This includes everything from staying on top of our utility bills and accounts, updating all our policies, food hygiene certificates and staff training, DBS checks, insurance, health & safety. Can be done anytime, but ideally sometime on Fridays afternoons when we meet to sort out the admin. 

Community events. Can you help for 3 hours a week with our seniors club (Friday lunchtime),  disability disco or Saturday mornings Meet me at the Bevy?

Maintenance. We need a crew of people that help fix the pub. Or help look after the garden and our rocket composter (Wednesday mornings for gardening)

Marketing. Always looking for people with fresh ideas and knowledge on how we can promote our activities. 

Community connections. We get loads of enquiries and ideas but struggle to follow up and reply to all of them

You can either join the committee – or just get involved in the above. All of them will be overseen by staff or member of the committee and your help would make an enormous difference!
