From just 8 months old to 88 years, the Bevy put on its Sunday best and flung open its doors for everyone to see what we get up too.

Special guests where Camerados whose simple idea is it to set up public living rooms in the streets or hospital foyers for people to sit on sofas and chat over a cuppa – with the premis that its ok to disagree. 

The Bevy is a public living room turbo charged so it made sense to become the 250^th Living Room in the world.

After a stint outside the Pier, we borrowed the Moulsecoomb Primary minibus and bought people back to the pub, including a long term shareholder from Washington DC who happened to be in town! 

All our clubs were represented – from darts and pool, toad in the hole, bar billiards, seniors who did a raffle, Bevendean down parkrun, Our Place, Family Thursdays, Good News Brighton, Brighton Borrowers, Higher Bevendean advent trail, Trust for Developing Communities, disability disco, job club, gardening group  – to show people what they do and how to get involved. 

Then it was the Bevy heroes awards. We will always fly close to the financial wind, but our community activities, our community ethos is what keeps us going; it’s our Unique Selling Point as they say. To the staff that go above and beyond, the committee working away in the background and to those that give up their free time  – from fixing things, decorating the place, sorting out the garden, cooking for the seniors club, helping run Family Thursdays, doing our website and posters….we simply wouldn’t exist without those people so it was good to say thank you.

Then the Camerados band pipped up with special guests Tracy, Elaine and Magic Michael taking it in turns to wow the crowds. As one committee member put it so well  ‘A community pub with its Sunday Best on. Beautiful, inclusive, funny, silly, creative, generous and unified.’ Cheers
